Michael Hallen creates paintings that document the people in his life at moments when they transcend their particular relationship to him and become a common language to the viewer.  Using heavy marks of oil paint, these images become an account of both the transformation of his worldview into a universally understood experience and the physical act of painting.   His work has been seen in group exhibitions in the United States.  

Michael lives and paints in Cleveland, Ohio.
